Heat Exchanger Pre-Heat Fouling Atmospheric Distillation Column

Source – 2011 AIChE Spring Meeting, Irv Wiehe, Soluble Solutions

A common problem in a refinery crude unit is pre-heat exchanger fouling, including the heat exchanger on the incoming line to the desalter vessel and the series of heat exchangers entering the furnace, where the crude oil is heated before entering the atmospheric distillation unit.
