Congratulations to Emerson’s Terry Blevins and Mark Nixon for winning the Raymond D. Molloy Award for the best-selling International Society of Automation (ISA) book of 2011.

In a post, Hot Off the Press – New Control Loop Foundation Book, I described the book and shared Terry’s narrated short course he presented at last year’s Emerson Exchange. In another  post, Control Loop Foundation Learning Website, I highlighted the visual learning site, ControlLoopFoundation.com, that was created in addition to the book.

The award was presented at the 2011 ISA Automation Week conference by Eoin Ó Riain, the Vice President ISA Publications Department and Read-out Instrumentation Signpost web site.

The award:

…was named for Raymond D. Molloy who was a major driving force in the ISA publications program for more than 20 years. As Department Vice President and then later as chair of the Books Committee, Mr. Molloy maintained a keen interest in ISA publishing quality books that meet the needs of measurement and control professionals.

If you are learning or need a refresher on controlling loops for many types of applications such as process characterization, feedback control, PID tuning, feedforward control, cascade control, override control, split range control, valve position control, ratio control, model predictive control, and process simulation, check out the Control Loop Foundation website or consider joining the large number of people who have purchased the book to make it a best seller.
