“How-to” videos have established themselves as an indispensable part of troubleshooting and maintenance. How often to you Google and land on a YouTube video with someone showing you exactly how to make the repair?

I discovered a new 8:35 video, How to replace an acquisition module in a Daniel 3804 Liquid Ultrasonic Meter. In the video, Emerson’s Jay Sindayen walks through the steps required to perform this repair operation. A fault to this acquisition module is determined through in-depth meter diagnostic checking and testing.

He opens noting the tools required to perform the operation and the importance of power removal and a stable work surface to avoid injury.

He then walks systematically through the repair procedure demonstrating each step along the way. Jay shows the 14 total steps required.

Daniel-3814-Four-Path-Liquid-Ultrasonic-Flow-MeterDaniel Series 3410 and 3810 ultrasonic meters were introduced to provide faster flow sampling rates to reduce measurement uncertainty and improve uptime. This series of meters measure liquid products in accordance with API Chapter 5.8 (Measurement of Liquid Hydrocarbons by Ultrasonic Flow Meters Using Transit Time Technology) and OIML R117 (measuring systems for liquids other than water). These meters are used in custody transfer, allocation measurement, check metering, leak detection and inventory control applications.

  1. This is some great information. I think ultrasonic flow meters are great when you need to get accurate data. I think they also do a great job at detecting leaks and controlling the flow rates. The benefits of using these are invaluable, and they help to keep thing operational.
