As we close the week before next week’s Emerson Exchange conference, I wanted to provide a couple of pointers whether you’re coming to join us, or not but want to peek in on the happenings.
At the Emerson Exchange
The sheer number of workshops, short courses, educational services courses, expert sessions, industry forums, technology roundtables and roadmaps can be daunting. So much to see and so many choices. It’s well worth your time in advance of the conference start to plan your schedule with the myExchange Tool. I started yesterday and will complete it today. I find that scheduling everything on the PC and downloading the mobile app helps get me to the right sessions at the right time. You can even schedule early morning fun runs! The mobile app also has venue maps, interactions with experts during expert sessions, session ratings and more.
The mobile app also integrates with the Emerson Exchange 365 community, Twitter and Instagram. For the latter two, it adds the conference hashtag #EmrEx automatically so you can share your experiences with your colleagues and those who could not be with us in Austin.
Technology exhibits will be Monday through Wednesday evening where you can find the latest technologies and experts behind their application. Here’s a map of the layout of the exhibit area.
We’ll have monitors around the event showing what people are sharing in Twitter and Instagram using the #EmrEx hashtag.
A Women in Innovation luncheon open men and women is on Tuesday and features tech entrepreneur, media personality, investor and philanthropist Ingrid Vanderveldt. Seating is limited so sign up in advance with the myExchange Tool.
On Tuesday evening, you’ll want to hear your talented, musically-inclined fellow Emerson Exchange attendees demonstrate these talents at the Emerson Exchange Music Jam. Each year it gets bigger and better. I’ve joked that pretty soon Emerson Exchange will be a musical event with some instrumentation & automation knowledge exchange on the side.
Thursday’s networking and social event will be at the Bullock Texas State History Museum. It’s a great time to relax and catch up with friends and new acquaintances after an action-packed week.
There is so much to see and do in Austin, I hope you set aside some free time to explore. Here’s a nice Things to Do page for ideas if you have this free time.
Virtually at the Emerson Exchange
News, videos, pictures, tweets and more will be flowing into the continuously updated Live at the Exchange page. Keep a tab on your browser open to peek in from time to time throughout the week. We’ll also send out a couple of news digest emails during the week. You can subscribe or check if you’re on the list here.
The Monday General Session keynote presentations will be livestreamed beginning at 8am central daylight time.
We’ll be sharing happenings through many of the social channels in LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and here on the blog. Like in previous years, I’ll be trying to catch as many sessions as possible and bring real-time notes (apologies in advance for spelling and grammar issues). If you use a tool like Hootsuite or TweetDeck, make sure to setup a channel listening to the #EmrEx hashtag.
