With all the hoopla and commotion you might be hearing about the “Industrial Internet of Things” and how it might improve operations, what might this all really mean for your manufacturing and production operations?

Emerson's Mike Boudreaux

In this short 2:30 minute YouTube video, Industrial Internet of Things and Connected Services, Emerson’s Mike Boudreaux and Microsoft’s Rodney Clark describe the components of the Industrial Internet of Things and the value they can deliver to manufacturers.

Some of these components include digital sensors, control elements, and technologies and communications paths, such as data diodes and Microsoft’s Azure Cloud, to get this information into the right expert(s) hands in order to make decisions to reduce unplanned downtime, improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions and operate more predictably and reliably.

Mike describes how these technologies open up connected services opportunities for remote experts that were difficult or perhaps impossible to achieve in the past. He shares examples such a 7% reduction in steam usage, avoidance of unplanned downtime, and optimized energy usage.
