Meet Jim Cahill

Hi, my name is Jim Cahill. I am now the self-proclaimed Chief Blogger and Surface Dweller for Emerson Process Management, in the Process Systems and Solutions division. The surface dweller metaphor comes from an article I wrote, Surface key to social network success. It highlights the importance of organizations having people out at the surface of their organizations to better listen and respond to the needs of their customers and prospective customers.

Purpose

The purpose of my blog is to highlight the expertise within Emerson Process Management. My hope is to more closely connect you as an automation professional with the experts throughout our organization. If these connections help you in your day-to-day work, I hope that it will spark future Emerson bloggers to begin their conversations directly with you. This process has begun with the excellent Modeling and Control blog by two Emerson automation hall of fame technologists and the Emerson Global Life Sciences blog by Alan Babbitt.

About Me

My 20+ year career at Fisher Controls and in turn Emerson (who acquired Fisher in 1992) spans sales support, product application specialist, alliance manager, product manager for the DeltaV development, marketing communications manager, and now social media guy.

I received a BSEE from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from the University of New Orleans. My career began as a Systems Engineer with Conoco North American production in New Orleans in the mid 1980s before coming to Fisher Controls in the late 1980s. You can see my complete profile in LinkedIn.
